Impressions from Damascus, Maaloula, Bosra & Seidnaya

Beautiful Syria....10 years have passed.....The country is open for tourism. Overland we went from Jordan to Syria and started the adventure to explore a new country. People - incredible friendly, they welcome you with open arms. Landscape - from snow covered mountains, to desert and and lush green valleys. Food - we explored Syrian cuisine and even tasted the countries own local beer! History - trace back the world´s human history and discover well maintained ancient sites. Syria, multifaceted, diverse and warmhearted. People´s hearts are open, full of hope and trust. You´ll find beautiful parks, long promenades and handcrafted made-in-Syria products. People who I met along the road have asked me to share this. So I do. You can go and visit. Now ;) Still, a lot of Syrians in exile are not yet able to return to their home country. So please keep in mind, that I am traveling with a driver and a tour guide. The tour agency has permissions to each site they take me and they check beforehand, if it is absolutely safe or not. Before my trip, I spoke to three people from Syria (now living in Jordan) about this topic. They agreed: “If you have the opportunity to visit Syria, do it! It is such a wonderful country” With that in mind, I can say, yes, it is safe to travel to Syria on a tourist visa.
