250 herdsmen in Kompienga

Our partner organization has successfully organized our last activity (this is how we call training and other events). In January many herdsmen will again start their journey with their cattle in order to find water and pasture land. The herdsmen will cross time zones and borders in order to survive the dry/hot season. This phenomenon is called “Transhumance”. Many countries are involved, such as Burkina Faso, Niger, Benin, Ghana, Togo and even outside West Africa this type of cattle-growing exist. We now reunited all the important politicians and the spokes men of the herdsmen of five countries: Burkina, Mali, Benin, Niger and Togo. In total: 250 Participants. They discussed one day long about new laws and rules concerning the transhumance, about challenges and difficulties, possible solutions, in order to facilitate a peaceful coexistence between farmers and herdsmen in 2018.
